This week, the students currently registered in the Master of Arts in Carnival Studies programme at UTT will present their research findings to a public audience. A release said these presentations form part of the final examination for the successful completion of the Carnival Studies: Research Paper/Thesis, which is a requirement for the award of the qualification.
Included among the 24 aspirants are a number of well-known performers and music industry veterans including musician Robin Imamshah, pan musician Ayana Garcia and calypsonians Kassman and Michelle Henry.
All presentations will take place in Training Room, Academic Staff Building – UTT at the John S Donaldson Port-of-Spain Creativity Campus, Wrightson Road from 9 am each day.
Presentation of the thesis is the final examination of the student’s performance in the course and successful completion is a requirement for the award of the Master’s Degree.
Other students aspiring to obtain their Masters degree are Damion Phillip, Cevel Regis, Lesedi Felix, Jenelle Sanchez, Cindy Alleyne, Shanice James, Alana Stewart, Jevan Ochoa, Kerwyn Turnbull, Natalia Dopwell-Gomez, Cynthia Parks-Bruce, Geoffrey Anderson Bolden, Karla Guiseppi-Sylvester, Morisha Ransome, Niambi Holder, Keisha Matas, Nadhanie Singh, Guy Massiah, Georgia Newtown-Williams and Marcus Baptiste.
The panels of examiners includes cultural icons like Pearl Eintou Springer, Dr Efebo Wilkinson, Dr Rudolph Ottley, Dr Kim Johnson, Dr Roger Henry, Desmond Waithe, Cyril Collier, Martin Raymond, Wayne Bruno, Rawle Gibbons and Annette Fitzpatrick.
