The Art Society of T&T has been hosting a two-week art camp for children.
Based on the success of the 2015 Children’s Art Camp, ASTT president, Clayton de Freitas, ensured that the camp continued in 2016 with the intention of it becoming an annual event.
The Children’s Art Camp, themed My World, Our World, began on August 8, and ends on August 21 with a full-scale two-day art exhibition at the ASTT. The camp’s facilitator is Gail Pantin, an artist and art educator who lived in Singapore for many years where she taught art. She is a very active ASTT member and has had a solo art exhibition earlier this year.
Sixth Form students of Bishop Anstey High School and ASTT members have volunteered as camp helpers, a release said.
Art collectors and patrons were approached to sponsor children. The ASTT thanks all our sponsors for once again reaching out to help them be part of this camp, especially in this time of economic uncertainty.
The St Dominic’s Children’s Home in Belmont was once again invited to register several of their children for the camp this year. The Living Water Community also accepted an invitation for children from its various ministries to participate. Those attending will be exposed to art in various forms including storytelling, dance, music, and the camp will be inviting people to help with these activities. ASTT patron and celebrated mas designer Brian Mac Farlane will be also be hosting a workshop.
