Trinidad Theatre Workshop (TTW) will hold another of its intimate Dinner Theatre events on November 7.
A release said a dinner and drinks at the theatre in Belmont will be followed by a unique, experimental piece of theatre titled Words, co-directed by Rhesa Samuel and Arielle John. These two young artistes combine spoken word and playback theatre to create this intriguing evening of interactive theatre.
The piece was developed during the Mentorship by the Masters programme run by the Culture Division. The programme gave younger arts practitioners a chance to study under some of the artistic masters in T&T. TTW’s artistic and managing director Albert Laveau led a ten-week workshop with a group of younger artists, who created Words.
Words was performed in a showcase at the beginning of October to a packed house. According to the release, with skill and humour these young performers told the audiences’ stories back to them, reflected the society around us, and had the entire audience in stitches with laughter. It was truly a night to both entertain and enlighten. The success of this showcase convinced the TTW to bring this performance to a wider audience.
According to the organisers of the event, Dinner Theatre at TTW is a unique experience. Tucked away in a classic gingerbread house, our theatre seats just 60 people, giving every audience member a unique and personal experience.
